Hello everyone! I'm in urgent need of your advice!

I have two sows, Cookie and Canella. I've had them since they were both 1.5 months old (they're 11 months now) and they have lived in the same hutch. The thing is Cookie sometimes chases Canella and keeps bumping her on the head and it also seems like she's biting her ears, without wounding her though.

Yesterday, after coming back home, I took Canella for a cuddle and noticed she had dried blood on the inside of her ear and it looked like a small chunk had been bitten off. :(

Could it be that Cookie has bitten her and caused the wound or is it an ear infection?

I can't get her to a vet until Tuesday, as it is a 3 day National Holiday here in Greece. I applied some antiseptic to the wound and have been praying that it will heal!

I'm attaching some pics so you can tell me what you think it is.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Is the split in the ear, by your thumb in the top pic, new? Is your piggy grooming her ears by force or nipping at them when having a chin to chin?

If you clean off all the crusting and it returns with a day or two I would suspect ear mites or a fungal infection.

Thank you so much for the reply Suzy!

No, this is the original split, I think she scratched her ear and made it bleed again, but I'm not quite sure.

How should I clean the crust?

If you put a drop of baby or olive oil on a Q-tip and spread around inside the ear flap, leave for 10 mins to soften the crusts. Wipe clean with cotton wool, both ears. A small amount of vaseline may help but if there is no improvement by the time the vets reopen I would advise making an appointment.
