Help...!

We have 2 piggies, tonight whilst tranferring from cat catch to pen the older one (10months) tried to escape so my wife grabbed him hard around the tummie and put him in pen. After this he started to roll over in distress and will not eat any food. He's also not keen to move and has been like this for 2hrs, although he has stopped rolling over now....

Help plz any ideas....?

Thanks

Could be any number of things, damaged ribs, gut etc... did you not think to take him to the vets?

aw, i am sorry to hear this. i think it is best you get him to the vet first thing. they are little delicate things and can get easily injured.

x

I would get him to a vets he could have internal damage or bruising. Hope he is ok.

Update - piggie just started to drink and eat again and he's stated moving around slowly. We are have spoken to a local out of hours VET who has told us to monitor him. He did say if he's started to move around normal and eat again thats a postive signal for recovery.

Thanks again for info

How is the piggy now?

I really hope that he has improved since your first posting. If he is still causing you concern as he is not himself or appears in pain, please contact a vet asap. Keep him warm and secure in the meantime.

Keep us posted as I am worrying about him!

It might have been stress that caused him to do that. Make sure he has plenty of hay to hide under so he feels safe and put some of his favourtie food in to encourage him to eat. Check on him regularly. If no change by the morning then I would take him to the vet.

Yeah a vets trip would be in order when holding a piggy you are supposed to lift them by around the shoulders and belly area while supporting their rump with your other hand
But don't feel bad if he was going to escape its easy to make a quick mistake x

hopefully he was just in a little shock, how is he now?

hi i have seen this once before at work (sounds similar anyway) we had a client bring in a pig with mites.when they picked him up it screamed and did the roll thing.I thought it was going to die from shock. It was actually in intense pain due to the mites causing internal damage.vets trip is in order as sounds like he is hurt
