hello all,

So we have a new pal named Nugget. He is a American Short hair piggy! We have had him for about a week now and two days ago we noticed his right eye was sunk in with crust keeping it closed. I have been cleaning it with saline and gause pads. This morning it was not closed due to crust but still not normal. There are no vets that will see him with in 100 miles of us

He's eating his veggies,
Pooping normally,
However he is not his normally popcorning self.

Any idea on over the counter medication we can use? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi! In order for us to be able to help you, it would be useful if please added your country, state/province or UK county to your details. We have got members from all over the world. Please click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and then scroll down to location. As you can imagine, brand names vary from country to country.

It sounds like your piggy has got an ulcerating eye injury of some sort. If at all possible, it really should be seen by a vet.

Updated! And thanks! There isn't a vet anywhere near us. I have even called to other surrounding states and it looks like we would have to travel 6 hours to get to a vet

If you are really are unable to get to a vets then please phone one for advise as I would really not like to mess around advising for any eye problems, they are delicate and need specialist care. Please ring the nearest vets. You may want to look further into vets as I would not be happy with living 6 hours away from medical care for my little one.
