Hiya,

It could be an injury caused by the hay. I would get him to the vet for a check over. Try not to worry.

Good luck!

as i said on the chat, take him to the vets to get check out, i hope all goes well for you and your little man, and let us all know how it goes.

Don't panic - sometimes if they get a bit of hay or something in their eye it glazes over as a kind of protection/healing mechanism. I would take him to the vet to get it checked out and put your mind at rest. He might need some eye drops or something.

Hope you get on ok.

ok thanks evry 1 i am takin him now n fingers crossed he wil be ok i panicked coz ive never seen it before but hopefuly it is just a hay injury. wil let u al know how he gets on thnks x

I had a guinea who always dived head long into hay and eventually she became blind in one eye due to just to many hay darts

you will know when your pig is blind, a milky eye is a eye that has been damaged have you had a look at the eye to look for the hay dart,,

if you open up the guineas eye using your fingers eithr side of the eye, you should see if the pig cooperates that is a hay dart in their some where,, or it may have already worked its way out

I have a piggy who poked her eye on some hay last week... SHe had a bit of puss and a wet cheek for a few days but she is fine now...

I changed their hay to soft hay not the stalky variety... The hay i have got now is longer cut and finer...

No problems yet...

Hope your vet can help him out...:)

Could someone explain this to me please. I've seen on another post that this is 'text talk'.
What is happening? Is some sort of auto-setting blocking out text talk (because even as a 50-something I can usually understand some of it).

It just isn't possible to give piggy advice when faced with this gobbledegook so either the forum is set to accept text talk or we ban it (like another forum where spelling and punctuation are as important as piggy care).

The rules of the forum is to write proper and text speak isn't allowed. So Luke has been banning words, but I think the words need to be replaced so we can understand what is being said.

this thread has suddenly become very funny to me! it looks like loads of swearing with al the stars!

:Ayociexp122:I really have a problem with text speak

Is there a sticky explaining that text speak will be ***ed out?:)):))

sorry for using the text talk it is just i am used to it sorry every one!

not very good the eye has got gunge in it now and i am not sure what to do as i could not find anything in his eye. I am washing out with cotton wool daily but i dont know what else to do? x

Sounds like you're on the right lines to me. Have you taken him to the vets to get it checked out? Might be worth it in case he needs some drops or something.

I would take him to the vets. If it gets infected (which it sounds like it might be if it's got gunge in it) he will need antibiotics.
Let us know how you get on.

hi! his eyes looking worse so i am taking him to the vets as soon as possible but its a shame school starts tomorrow because i cant taake him in the day now, thanks for all your supportxxx

He needs to go to the vets now (i.e. today) Can anyone take him for you (parents?). Sounds like the eye is infected and he could become blind.

we are going to see a sick relative this afternoon but i might be able to go tonight fingers crossed. i dont know if my parents will pay and I'm not sure if i have enough money

Why would your parents not pay to help your piggy? Your piggy is probably uncomfortable and not feeling well a vets visit wont take long either...

have you asked your parents if they will pay? Surely if they see that his eye is infected they will pay. Not wanting to nag but he does need to see a vet ASAP or this could become a lot more serious. Please take him today, it shouldn't be too expensive but the longer you leave it the worse it will get.
