One of our guineas Maisi has today been just lying down a lot and not moving round and sort of shuffles instead of walking normally. She is eating and drinking and pooping just this movement problem. Our vets are obviously on very reduced hours and I will ring them but I wondered if anybody has any advice in the meantime. She is about 20 months old x

Sadly it sounds like she really needs to see a vet.
The good news is that vets are classed as essential services in most places, so they are up and running, just with new controls in place.
Please explain that it is urgent and hopefully she will be seen soon.

All I can think of is maybe a leg injury? Something stuck in back end maybe? I'd just call a vet as soon as you can and make sure she can still eat hay and drink from the water bottle. If not try a water bowl or feed little pieces of cucumber

Thanks both - I’m ringing vets in a minute 👍🏻

Oh gosh. ☹️
Sending my love, let us know how you get on. 💕

Don't forget to let us know how you get on.
Hopefully it is something simple that can be sorted out quickly.

Hi - apparently she hasn’t broken anything, but has a sore back. I can’t think what’s she’s done but her and her pal do sometimes chase each other about so can only think she’s twisted it. Vet gave her metac and given me some for home and I’ve got to ring and update her tomorrow. A quiet day for Maisi is in order! X

Hi

You need to contact your vet. This is serious. She may have injured her back.
