Best thing is to take her to the vets. We've had two like this over the past two weeks, one had an allergy to something and I'm not sure about the other because the vet said it was a URI, both ended up on antibiotics.

Ok thank you so much. The vet is closed so we will go tomorrow. I have seperated her and I have also given her some cucumber which she snatched off me and will feed her and keep her hydrated.

hehe ours are just as bad for cucumber :) It could be anything, she could have sniffed something if she only just started doing it?

I am so busy now that the summer holidays are over. So I can only go out to then morning and evening. But I didn't notice it yesterday and my mum (who fed them this morning) didn't notice anything either.

I'd try and take her to be on the safe side just to make sure she's ok and to stop yourself from stressing and worrying.

You have to be so careful with piggies :(

I do hope Cookie is ok!

Sounds like you have caught it early. Is she still in the same room as the other pig? if so, I would put them back together, she is more likely to eat with her friend around and quarantine only really works in a different airspace (different room). I think it sounds like a URI. If you are given antibiotics, ask for a probiotic too, and a product called Bisolvon is also good for mucous in the nasal passages.

Thank you so much. We are going to go into the vet tomorrow. And I am writing down the name to ask the vet nurse. Do I need to bring her into the vet or should I just explain everything in ther and get the medication? Thanks.

I would take her with you as the vet will want to see her and make their own diagnosis.

That's understandable. It's your first time with a poorly one isn't it?

@Cavy Lover please don't be embarrassed, you're not the only one who gets tearful when our furry friends fall ill, and you are not the only one who feels panicked when we don't know how urgent it is. All the best of luck at the vets, and please be kind to yourself, you spotted it quickly and sought out help and advice xx

Thank you. Since I spotted it this evening I wasn't able to book an appointment. And if I book tomorrow morning I will have to wait till later that day or Saturday. So I am just going to drop in, in the morning as they are never busy then. And if they are then I can go to another one nearby which you don't need appointments for. Thanks everyone. I am glad I spotted it early so that it doesn't get worse.

Dont hit your self with a big stick , you spotted a problem and you acted on it
You are a good keeper :tu:

So I have some really sad news. Unfortunately Cookie passed away last night which was such a shock and I am devastated.

Oh my God I'm so sorry. I really wasn't expecting that.

Oh no! That all happened so suddenly. What a nasty shock.
Huge hugs to you
Be free at the Bridge little Cookie. I hope you are OK Cavy Lover xx

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. Poor little Cookie She must have been in a very bad way. Remember, guinea pigs are masters at hiding their illnesses from us. Don't feel bad because you did not spot it earlier. Run free, Cookie. :soz::bye:

Oh I'm so sorry to read your post. What a terrible shock for you. Big hugs. Popcorn free little one x

Thanks Guys. I wasn't expecting that either. It was such a shock. We buried her earlier. It is really hard to explain the way I feel. I feel almost empty which sounds really cheesy and stupid.
