Hey so I have had my guinda pig Anuel for about a month now, but I injured my finger and have been unable to take him out his cage in about a week. I feel so guilty and sad about it because I feel like maybe I could try harder to take him out, but what I really want to know is if you guys think he’s suffering or that it’s really bad that I haven’t taken him out. P.S. I have another week with a splint on my finger which means another week without taking him out.

Hey, Cassie! What size is his cage? Does he have minimum space to exercise? It shouldn't be a big problem, as long as he can move around his cage. Don't feel guilty. :)

Don't worry, if there is room for him to exercise .And you are still caring for him. eg. ( fed and watered, plenty of love petting and talking to him.) Its only a short time. Does he have a friend .Or is there someone who could help you . May be put a radio on too. You can't help it don.t feel guilty. :luv:

Hi!

Please don't feel bad about not being able to handle Anuel if you can't use your hand. He is clearly well loved and cared for!

Is Anuel a single piggy and how big is his cage?
Cage Size Guide

Could you entice him to come into a cardboard box, so you can hold him safely on your lap and take him back to the cage one-handedly?

Thank you so much! His cage is not really that big (I’m in the process of ordering him a bigger one) and he is by himself but I constantly talk to him when I am home and I was able to get him out using a plastic igloo which I had done before but it takes so much time. He is currently on my lap lol. Thank you so much.

Don’t feel guilty for not being able to bring your piggy out!
What I do want to say though, piggies need a friend! It is wonderful to give your pig plenty of attention, but it does not fill the void that a same species companion could. Guinea pigs thrive with a friend! You also get to see plenty of new behaviors when they have a friend to play with. You could pair your pig with another boar, or get him neutered and get him a sow companion! There are threads on this forum that can help with bonding.
