As some forumers would know.. Coffee is about 1 month old..

Gosh... she isn't as active as before now. I don't know whats wrong.

I went to the vet last monday.. and the vet told me she's too young to eat vege for now.. so i didn't give her any vege for these few days.

But I'm so puzzled.. why is she having diahorrea so suddenly?
I mean.. she's eating pellets and hays... what is wrong? she didn't have such a problem b4. :'( :'( :'(
I hope its not a bacteria infection or something..

I washed her bumbum just now and while rubbing/drying her tummy.. she gives out some sound.. is this a discomfort sound or something? I'm not sure but she used to give such a sound last time when Sugar's groomed her. hmmm..

need help urgently!

If you can give her some probiotic or some water as fluid loss and dehydration can be serious for guineas. If you do not have an oxbow crtical care you can mash u guinea pellets and syringe feed them to keep her digestion going. Good luck O0

shes still eating.. so do i need to smash the pellets still?

i doesn't have oxbow critical.. or probiotics..

shes still drinking but seems a little weak.

:'( :'( :'(

can you phone the vet to see if they can give you some probiotics? :-\ yeah definitley syringe water and rehydration therapy O0
((HUGS)) HOpe she gets better soon O0 :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Rehydration therapy? how does it works?
That first time when i bought them to the vet (which is the recent Monday).. the vet said they are healthy but just that coffee is too small.. so need to monitor is she eating and drinking well or not.

don't have any syringe with me =(

it seems that she is trying to eat and drink.. but give up after a little munch/sip of water.

I'm so worried.. afraid she will be like mocha :'(

try and get coffee to the vet asap. if you haven't a syringe use a small plastice tea spoon. you can make rehydration therapy half level teasoon of salt, 4 level teaspoons of sugar in 1 litre of water which has been boiled and allowed to cool. try and stay calm and ring around, perhaps see another vet. sending you hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and the girls send :-* :-* :-* also sending you prayers for coffee. 0:) 0:) 0:) wishing you a happy easter from us in oz may gods love give you comfort. 0:) 0:) 0:) :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hoping sweet coffee gets better soon. sending good vibes your way. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

hiye... gosh its 5am at my side and i'm still holding on with Coffee.
Just went to check on her as she messed up the side of the food bowl with her mushy poops :'(

a silly qn.. what kind of instrument do u all use to smash the pellets? :-\
I will take her to the vet on emergency if she's still having diahorrea. :'( :'(

why is this happening? so strange becos she didn't eat any vege for these few days :-\

wishing i could help you, i am at present feeding zoe with pellets, you boil water and then put pellets in and mix. but still gan't get them to go up a syringe. :tickedoff: really hoping coffee gets better, maybe try some bananna in their skins with is good too. sending hugs and prayers to you. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :-* :-* :-* stay calm and try same vet or a new one. poor sweet coffee. give her a kiss for me. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: it is 7.55am here in south oz. good luck. :smitten:

Hiya,

It sounds horrid but what is the runny poop like? If it is black, foul-smelling and watery and she looks ill with a puffed up coat she needs a vet right away.

Give lots of timothy hay to replace the veg for now. Offer water to keep her hydrated as having runny poops can make a pig seriously dehydrated. Use a probiotic to restore a healthy gut flora.

Good luck with her!

The poop is like brownish soft poops.. and she messed up the food bowl becos her leg or hands got the stain of it i think.

Just went to wash her bum with cotton wool + warm water =( its not as dirtie as the earlier one.
while cleaning the bumbum, she pooped out another.. but its not as mushy and soft though. so is this a good thing?

and i heard her shrieking just now.. i think she's in pain? gosh.
i'm new to her and i dun think she would wanna take any water which is hand feed by me =(

The vet which i went to... i dun think she's working on Sunday. however the another vet in the same clinic was said to be good too.
gosh gosh.... and its 5am here, i need to wait till 9am which is the opening hours for the clinic.
and i also dun have the vet's number.. only the clinic number. doubt they do phone consultation.

4hours more to 9am.. i hope coffee won't be having diahorrea for now.
will need to wait for his daddy to be home after work (he's on night shift) so he can rush us down to the vet.
but the worse is i remember his HP is having low battery >.<

I agree that this piggy needs vet attention.Diarrheoa can kill.

I grind my dry mix in a coffee grinder to a fine powder then mix with warm water, this will then go in a syringe.

Use a commercial rehydration product,do not make one up yourself.

You need to get the fluids into her whether she likes it or not, I know she is only a babe but wrap her in a dry cloth or flannel with her back to your stomach she will take it then.

If you ring the vet and explain the situation I'm sure something can be sorted out, they have a duty of care they won't leave you strandard surely? :)

Vet is closed.. only open at 9am =(
now it is only 5.55am.

So do i leave her to rest in her hutch for now and wait till 9am for the vet.. or should i try to get fluid into her for now?
she's so fidgeting that i can't handle.. even got difficulty when i tried to check on her "private" parts. she jus dun wanna let me see and keep trying to run away from my hand =(

she's resting in the hutch now though.. what should i do?

SHE's DRINKING AGAIN!

so gosh... for 1 whole night.. from 10pm till now 6am, i was looking @ her whether she is drinking or not.
she is drinking from this water bottle thingie and usually she doesn't have much problem.

however today it seems that she got difficulty drinking from the water bottle herself.. and i even tried putting water into a bowl for her.. but she's not drinking it.

aRRRR NOW I FINALLY SAW HER DRINKING!
and yea, drinking a lot!

*phew*...

gosh.. i feel so relieved!

Thanks all... this teach me a lesson.. get a syringe from pharmacy ASAP!

i will continue to monitor her poops.. hopefully no more diahorrea.

so far for the past 1 hr.. she's doing good. no messiness.

That's great news. A small syringe would be fine for her seeing as she is only diddy. Bless her. :smitten: Keep us posted!

yupyup I'm going to bed now (head hurts) and just now i can't sleep becos I'm so worried about Coffee!

Now i can at least sleep in peace.. she's now eating hays which i cut her for her.. O0 O0 O0

hope she will be ok when i check on her later.. no more diahorrea!

thanks everybody. :smitten:
