Omg! My worst fear! EARWIGS! Heeeeeelp!

I went to check on the Piggies in the shed and I found EARWIGS! All itchy just thinking about it! I hate the bloody things! Thankfully they aren't in the sleeping area I checked thoroughly! But any advise in stopping them entering!

Like a spell? Potion? Or maybe stuffing all the cracks with something!

Seriously considering moving the Girls into the house if the uninvited guests continue make an appearance! And I don't care what the other half has to say about it!

That or I'll gut the shed if I have too!

I had that problem when mine were outside
There horrid! I solved it by bringing them indoors :))

Eeeww I hate these horrid little things too! I occasionally get them in the hutch and I don't know of anything you can do about it! Stamping on them and bashing them with the broom is how I solve it :)) :))

I found mice in my hutches. They used to be sitting in the food bowl.Needless to say mine are indoors

I found 2 in the hay supply that I keep in the pig shed . Yuk ! Needless to say I binned the entire lot of hay. Piggies are indoors now for winter but I'm thinking I should maybe bring their supplies in too ! Would earwigs do any harm or are they just horrible to find ?

I don't know how to get rid of them and I wouldn't like to find them in my hutches, but did you know that female earwigs display maternal behaviour- they care for their young. I know that's not much help, but maybe something to think about before you kill one? :...

Lol! Yep sorry they are apparently the best parents of the insect world-turning their eggs frequently to keep them alive &cleaning the eggs thoroughly!
But agreed... No help in with guinea pigs ;)

My girls are both out in a hutch in a shed&I have never found them in the hutch. But it is lined with newspaper, then with shredded paper, then finally topped off with heaps of hay. So not really many gaps for earwigs to hide in. :)

Years ago I had mice in the hutch &solved it by putting extra layers of mesh in the door &window areas, with a narrow strip of perspex along the bottom (about 2.5 inches high).between the extra mesh.
Had a few nibble marks on the perspex afterwards. But not seen them since. I have heard that mice can fit through a hole small enough to push the end of a pencil through. So had to make mesh small.

But sorry can't help if earwigs would cause harm or problems for piggies.
Xx
