Looks like running lice - do they run down the hair shaft when you part the hair?

Lice n Easy Shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas will do the trick! 2 baths, a few days apart...

It's quite common, don't worry. You need to make sure you do the repeat bath as the first one gets rid of the lice and if any eggs remain, they hatch and the second bath gets them!

thank you.

also, will it spread to other guineas?

or how about humans?

yes they do run when i part fur.

It will probably spread to other guineas if they share a cage but not to humans or other animals as far as I know.

You need to bath them, clean the cage, I usually spray the cage with Johnson's insect spray and let it air, then put clean piggies back in clean cage. There's an info section on the gorgeous guineas site that tells you more about it.

You can also use a human 'nit' comb to get the eggs and lice out if that helps. You can buy Johnson's insecticide shampoo at most pet shops too, if you can't wait for the gorgeous guineas stuff

Don't panic! :)

Yep its lice easy treated, they won't die! :) I know its a worry I freaked when mine had them! Not nice. Like nits for us! Soon have them Lice free! :)

I found Gorgeous Guineas Lice'N'Easy Shampoo good to use.
Remember to bath all your piggles and not just the infected one otherwise they will just come back again.

Ok thanks :) for all your help. but i've notice there are lots just sitting half way on her fur.

Hi there - mine have them too - my bigger guinea weighed over 300g so i used a spot treatment from the pet shop and he was lice free almost immediately and it lasts for 4 weeks - but the smaller one is only 275g and as they are under 12 weeks the shampoo i bought says not to use yet - so not sure what to do?

I put puppy/kitten Revolution on mine and they haven't been back since. My personal experience, though. ;)

right - have just ordered a trial size of the mimi pig from the gorgeous guineas - and a few trial sizes of a few other things! Fingers crossed x
