Help I Have A Male Guinea Pig With A Strange Lump Appeared On His Rear

My Male Guinea Pig has a Strange Lump that has appeared on his rear at first i thought it may be poo but it looks more attached than that. Then I thought it may be his grease gland but it looks too far over to be his grease gland. Would like to add phone to help you advise me as to what you think it may be and how i may be able to help him. I have just lost my job so dont want to have to take him to the vets if its perfectly normal and i can clean it or treat it myself. As he has had grease before which a bath has cleaned up. I'm not sure how to add a post a photo though! any advice very welcome!
 
Sorry to hear your boy has a lump. Any lump needs to be looked at by a vet. If it isn't being loosened by soaking then it doesn't sound like it is matted poo or grease - you will need a vets visit.
The Health and Illness board is provided for support and sharing ideas but you should always seek a diagnosis from a consult with a Vet never over the internet or telephone. Sorry to hear you have recently lost your job, many vets offer payment plans so you could spread the cost of a consult and any treatment needed. Let us know how you get on.
 
A vet is best place could be a cyst, one of my rescues had one in similar area but could also be something else. A vet will be able to diagnose and offer you best course of treatment :)

Definitely best to see a vet. If you post a picture someone might be able to tell you what it is. You can add a picture by registering at www.photobucket.com or I think you can just copy it & paste it in your post.
 
finally worked out how to get photos on here! if anyone has any ideas, it appears to have greasy residue coming from it but its definately attached and not just gunk its like a gland or a growth but I'm not expert, like you say i think a trip to the vets is due. The poor little fella doesnt have much luck he is only two and he had to have a cyst removed from his back when he was 8 months old and now this. But he seems ok in himself otherwise still popcorning and jumping around and chatting away to his brother. So at least he isnt laying around feeling sorry for himself! Thanks for all your comments

It could be a sebaceous cyst but a vet check will confirm :) Good luck!
 
It looks most likely to be a sebaceous cyst, so nothing very major that would be very expensive to have taken care of at the vets. But please be aware that we cannot diagnose especially lumps via the internet!
 
Been to vets today, its a papilloma, which harmless as long as he leaves it alone and it stays the size it is. Got to keep an eye on it, it may completely disappear, stay the same or grow time will tell. Came be removed relatively easily if it needs to be but obvious risks involved so he would rather leave it if it doesnt change from how it is now and it doesnt bother the little fella. The outing to the vet seems to have worn the little fella out he is fast a sleep now! Fingers crossed it will reduce or remain the same! Thanks for your help!
 
Glad it is nothing sinister and your little dude is ok.
