I recently bought a female guinea pig this is my first time owning a guinea pig any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated, when should i try to pick hwr up and interact with her idk any of these things help

Do you only have one cage? Adopting another female if you don't have two. (Let them meet on nuteral grounds frist.) How big is their cage? 8 feet minimum, but they always say bigger is better and that is correct in this case. If you like my advice in cages I would try to stay away from pet store cages, some are still good like the midwest or living world etc. Maybe building your own if you dont like any of those cages try building it out of wood or c&c. Also doing more research will help.

I think Kira has made a slight mistake on the size of the cage, or she's made a typo error.
On one of the forums it says what square feet it needs to be. It has to be bigger for boys they need a lot of room. It would be good if you gave her a female friend. Unfortunately it doesnt matter how much fuss you
Make of a lone female you can't talk piggy language. Lol
Look on the forums to gain knowledge & we are here if you want advice.
You've made the right decision they are captivating little things.

Welcome to the forum! If you click on 'Guinea Pig Guides' at the top of the page, you will find loads of information, and there's a specific pack for new owners. As @Kiya-Piggy says, it's best to have at least two guinea pigs, as they are herd animals, and don't do well on their own, but you can't just get another and pop it in the cage. There are also guides on how to introduce a friend to your guinea pig. Once you get a good idea of what you're doing, you will get so much pleasure from these little furballs. They all have very different personalities, and you get to know their little ways. x

Hi and welcome to the forum. Here is our guide for new owners written by some very knowledgeable members (not me - everything I know is thanks to this forum!) Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides

It contains the cage size guide, no need for anything 8 feet long. Minimum recommended space for two piggies is 2 foot by 4 foot though the more space you can give them the better and you will really see a difference in behaviour. Same with having more than one piggy, you will notice so much difference in behaviour, activity levels and confidence.
