Hi, the attached picture is a lump on Alex, he has a few of these over his body, however this one appears to be getting bigger. Does anyone know what this could be? Should I be worried about this condition, or is it merely a skin tag or wart or something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alex remains happy and eats well, but he really doesn't like it when you try to examine these lumps, (it took a good wedge of cucumber and a few attempts to even get this picture!)

Thanks!

It could be anything from abscesses, fatty limpomas, cysts, or tumors. If you where to find a lump on yourself, I would hope you would see the doctor. It's no different for a Guinea Pig any lump requires a vet visit to get it checked it out.

My Fred has a Sebaceous Cyst it's harmless but I did get it checked out to be sure.

Guinea pigs can get a variety of lumps, anything from abscesses to cysts to fatty tumours. I would get it checked out by the vet for a definitive diagnosis.

Hope you can get a firm diagnosis soon, from a Vet. (If you need any help finding a good guinea pig Vet in your local area then just ask here as people can quite often recommend one.)

Just wondering if Alex's skin is a bit flaky, as it looks a little in the photo but is hard to tell.

Good luck!

Is it possibly a tick? I am assuming piggies can pick them up from grass, like dogs & cats do. In any case a vet's visit is the only way to find out what they are for sure. :)

Definatly doesnt look like a tick from the photo. Looks like a cyst of some sort. But he needs to see a vet to confirm what they are really. Let us all know how you get on.

Hope you get on ok, Melvin has a lump and I had that checked - its a fatty lump - he lives with it fine, I just keep an eye that it's staying the same size.
