Help Me Sex My Guinea Pig - Important

I would say male, but of course I can't be sure so here's a guide to sexing. Try feeling around just above the genitalia and see if you feel a ridge below the skin, which will indicate a male. If you feel a ridge, pressing around it will extend the penis. It may not work first try though!
Pet shops often mis-sex guinea pigs, so it's good that you came on here to check.

Picture isn't clear enough to be certain. I always say place the piggy on their back on your lap with their head furthest away. A boy's bits should look like a dotted "i" & a girls like a capital "Y". This usually works.

Thanks stewy :)

Id say boy too, well done on checking before putting him with your girls !

I got a guinea pig from the pet store, and they told me it was a female. However, I'm not sure I believe them, and I want to confirm before I put him/her in with my others. Can you look at the photo and let me know what you think? They did not know how old he/she was.

That is very obvious a boy! This link here has lots of pics of females and males of different ages next to each other, and also contains a picture of how you check the inside of the slit, which is often the safest way of sexing babies in young guinea pigs. Males don't have any side flaps in the slit.

You have a beautiful boar there. Sorry that you have been sold a mis-sexed piggy. But well done for checking before completing introductions.

I would agree you have a boy piggie, glad you did not put him in with a group of ladies,it takes seconds for the act to cause unwanted pregnancies.I hope this does not cause to many problems.:wel: to the forum.you will get alot of support on here.:)

You know so that he can't have babies.....
Then you can put him in a hutch with girls and they'll be no babies at all:)
