I very stupidly left my piggies greeting card within reach of my two boys and when I went to see them, saw they'd devoured some of the edges. It was a RNLI card and they'd nibbled some of where I'd written inside in biro.

I'm really worried now. I'm hoping the RNLI use soy ink in their products and that the minimal biro won't do harm but I won't sleep tonight now.

I've encouraged them to drink water and to eat some watery veggies to hopefully flush it out of their system.

I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine it's a problem! Way back in the seventies and eighties my childhood guineas sat on newspaper and chewed it up and I bet it wasn't especially healthy, no soy ink etc.

I hope one of the forum health experts gets back to you, because they'll really know.

Thank you. I can't believe I was so stupid to leave it there. They're my best friends and I often forget they're rodents and will chew anything. These two in particular are not so much into chewing non food items usually.

Hi

HUGS

Please take a deep breath and make sure that you get some solid sleep.

Your piggies won't come to any harm, going on my own experiences with cards being blown into a cage or falling onto the floor.

My worst repeat offender, Nerys (the big piggy in my avatar), who once devoured most of my shopping list written with a byro (which she was happily munching on when I came into the room once after answering the doorbell; it must fallen onto the floor when I got up from the desk), and several cards that had accidentally ended up on the floor also branched out into plastics of all sorts, nevertheless lived to celebrate her 8th birthday and died quite simply from old age. 👍
