Help....nedd vet for dental work without GA in Central Scotland

One of my boy piggies has gone right down hill in the last two days and is now completly off his food. He has no other symptoms so I need to get him to a vet that can trim his teeth if they need done, as he has done this before and recovered almost instantly after they were filed.
Last time I had to travel to Huntingdon to Vedra all the way from Scotland and I really need to get him to a vet asap.
Any advice or help muchlt appreciated.
 
Thank you so much :).I'm in Troon which is about 30miles south west of Glasgow, I know where Champion vets are, so thats excellent. Would you say the denny vets is the most experienced though?
 
I've seen the Denny vets mentioned on this forum a few times - try doing a search for Apex Vets to find any threads about them.

Champion are my own vets, who I've taken my piggies to quite a few times. Stephen and Kerry are particularly good with pigs.
 
Thank you. I think your right. I am going to phone first thing so I cant get anti-biotics asap incase it's infection. His breathing seems quite slow and he's so lethargics but hopefully I'll be able to turn it around over night with the syringe feeding :(.
Any favourite out of your two vets at Champion? Do they both work in both branches?

Glen at Apex vets did my Fred teeth's giving a light sedation Valium but he has also done my Patrick with no sedation he's an excellent vet and I wouldn't trust anybody else to do my pigs teeth. Both where eating immediately. xx
 
Thank you thats excellent. He's a little brighter and pooping again after feeding every two hours right through yesterday and through the night. I have just spotted him out his house and picking at a cauliflower leaf. I am goign to phone tomorrow for an appointment and in the mean time get his wee system up and going to make him stronger for the journey.
All this heat isn't helping though.
Wish him a speedy recover :)......thank you so much for the recommendation, finally I know of a decent guinea vet that I can get to in an hour :)
 
That's good that he is a bit perkier today, I am keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery :)

Great to hear the testimonials for Apex vets too, I think the next time any of my lot have a dental issue I will make the journey. Seems like they have a great set-up going on, really knowledgeable.
 
Been to see Glen at apex...recovery time?

Well I took Alvin to Denny this morning and although Glen didnt reckon there was any major issues with his teeth, there was a bit of tenderness and redness. Otherwise after examination he was deemed "nice and bright".
So far he's munched on a little veg and some hay but is still in hiding.
Any advice on how long before he's his usual self? I know he'll **** be a little tender but just wondered how long for recovery as I would really hope it is just teeth as I can't afford diagnosics. Maybe the journey and burring has just stressed him out a bit.

Fred lost weight for the first 3 days, very small amounts on the 4th day he made marked improvement and started gaining weight again.
 
I go to the Dick Vet in Edinburgh, their Exotic department. Although quite a bit more pricey that the vet I used before, I always get Emma Keeble or one of her colleagues who are actually qualified in one of the exotic/zoo specialities.
