Hi Everyone, this is my first post here, I'm hoping you may be able to help with our poorly Guinea?

She is about 4 years old we think and had been eating fine etc, the next morning she was dragging her hind legs. :(

She appears to be absolutely fine in all other ways which is why its making it hard for us to think she may have to be pts.

We have tried Osteocare liquid and disolvable Vitamin C.

We took her to the vets who said it may of been a stroke or a slipped disc and to have her pts. He gave her a cortisone injection and the wknd to see if she improved. Unfortunately she didn't.

She hasn't lost complete use of them, if you lift her gently by the belly whilst she's walking she does use them but as soon as you let her go she plops to one side and then just drags them behind her.

Was hoping for anymore suggestions before we have her pts.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry, i have just re-read your post and see that you've already tried this :( - It's the only info i have ~ i'm sure that someone else will reply soon that will be of more help to you x

I am glad that she can use her legs again; hopefully, she can persevere! Perhaps you could help her by gently massaging her legs.

Or do this which I found on Peter Gurney's website:

Welcome to the forum Alby, I am sorry your piggie has given you such worry. I am glad she's recovering the use of her legs again, hopefully she will have full mobility again very soon. I agree with Wiebke's thought on swimming therapy, worth a try if you are confident enough. Do keep us updated with her condition. :)

I really hope your piggy makes a full recovery. Never give up hope.

I have two piggies that were born with twisted spines. Wibble and Wobble.

Unfortunately, Wibble has had an ear infection and although his ear seems to be less inflamed he still has a head tilt. The vets have said that because of his twisted spine he is worried about anaethetic, to look to see if the infection is further down his ear canal. So we are cleaning his ear daily, and keeping him as comfortable as possible. Wibble walks very wonky...but still manages to run around like a looney!

Well I have a sad update for you all. We had to have Fluffy pts on Friday as it just wasn't fair on her. She wasn't getting any better and keeping her clean and dry to prevent sores was becoming an impossible task.

My mum was very upset having nursed her for the past 2 weeks everyday.

RIP Fluffy

Thanks for your all your replies

I'm so sorry, it sounds like you did all you could for her.

Rest well, dear Fluffy. xx
