My friends pig who is 2 months old and is alone has been fine all day. It has been eating and drinking as well. Tonight it is now just lying on its side and has shallow breathing. The vet is closed. Can anyone help quickly please. Thanks.

It could be heatstroke but that would also need vet attention. Please tell her to ring her vet, they will have an emergency vet's number to call out of hours. It is very urgent for them to get him to a vet now!

I have told her that thank you. Waiting for a reply

I agree she needs emergency vets now. If it is heatstroke she will need diuretics and fluids at least and diuretics would also be needed if it is a respiratory infection.

Sorry to hear this. Glad your friend is getting help, let us know how she gets on x

I am so sorry to say that the wee piggy died. Thank you for all your help x

Oh no...poor little piggie! Well maybe if it was heatstroke your friend will need to make a new cooler location for future piggies! So sorry that she lost the little baby pig!

I am very sorry. If it was sudden acute heart failure, there is nothing that can be done. :(

She hasn't been in contact with what happened it was her daughters piggy. Think the family are in shock as it was so sudden. Thank you for the lovely comments. X
