Help, squirting watery blood....
I was cutting the guinea pigs long hair and nails, I turned Frogmella over to cut her nails and a jet of watery blood came flying out of her girlie bits.
I was being gentle with her, she has not been dropped. She's just over 2 years old...
Any idea? she is normal in herself, eating, going to the loo and still bossing Honkalula about.... I will get her to the vets tomorrow but will she last that long?
Thanks
Liz

Yes, seemed to be. It wasn't like a small loss, it flew out and went a good few feet.

Hi Liz,

Are there any signs of cystitis - squeaking when peeing/pooping, or an odour to the urine? My first thought is that she had a full bladder and just couldn't hold the pee in any longer, and the action of lifting her and turning her over was enough to relax the muscles! If she has cystitis, which may include blood in her urine, then it could explain the watery blood squirting from the area.

If she is otherwise well - eating, moving around, and able to pee and poop - she should be perfectly fine until tomorrow.

Thank you for your reply. There seems to be no difference in her, no noises or apparent discomfort when weeing or pooing. No smells either.

It will not be fatal overnight.
It could be cystitis, which has a number of causes. It may not even be blood, it could be colourants that are in dried food.
