Thank you for do this
You can try scatter feeding as well. Makes them work a little for their food. I don’t use bowls at all now. I scatter the pellets and hand feed the veg.Ok, I will do ☺ I mean I have to admit there bowls are normally full so it's a good job someone told me that![]()
That there is! That actually sounds pretty cool. I might have to do that... But I just didn't think anyone would be interested in what my pigs were up to(I hope the picture worked ) so chutney is the darker one the lazy one and nibbles is the escape artist... They both jumped one my lap, I didn't put them there

That's actually a good idea! I'll do that! Nibbles will love it, chutney will have me for making him work for itYou can try scatter feeding as well. Makes them work a little for their food. I don’t use bowls at all now. I scatter the pellets and hand feed the veg.
Ok I am going to start doing that! You guys have been so helpful! Thank youWe absolutely would be interested! If it’s piggy related, we are all there reading it!
They are gorgeous!
It can help, particularly with teen boars like yours, to scatter feed veg and pellets rather than using bowls. This serves two purposes
1- encourages their foraging behaviour
2- can prevent any food hogging or issues
I don’t use food bowls at all
Oh my God they are sooooo cute! Look at themSome people use bowls some don't
Some people leave dish pellets some don't
Some say little veg some don't
The pattern here is not always easy each piggie is different and a balance is found that suits piggie and slave. Well done for asking and this forum is the best.

Thanks. MRS DOUGAL this morning has had a very big hair cut. . . Was needed. Lol.Oh my God they are sooooo cute! Look at them
Yeah I thought that when I did alot of Google research. I've also noticed it when feeding veg , one likes that one a lot the other hates itthat's why I started writing it all down otherwise by the time I go back to work, I'd probably forgotten it all
They are so cute

This is a great question. . Had these 2 about 2 years. . They love each other so much and neither seem to be more dominant. . Sometimes Florence follows Mrs Dougal next day other way. They so polite to each other. . When ones in season they have a little rumble and the receiver looks behind as if to say " what are you doing" lol...That's brilliant, love the fact you gave her a haircut
I was just wondering, how do you know which one is the most dominant one... They keep bumping into each other today... Testosterone is kicking in I thinkI hope they don't need seperating after this! Hopefully they come out the other side

Erm both.... nibbles mounts more to chutney ... Sometimes especially today they lung and heads go up, but I get worried about this so I keep an eye on it and it never goes serious and always keep a look out in case it does, but then they seem to forget about it and sleep near each other . So I just don't understand, as the more I read, the more I look and then the more I get confusedYou usually can't miss the really dominant boars who get upset at any imagined slight and have to throw their weight around all the time.
When it is rather Even Stevens between them, then it may need some experience to tell but the hierarchy reinforcement is crucially not as important for the boys, either. Rumblestrutting is everyday boar peaceful measuring up behaviour - even my neutered 'husboars' do it all the time with each other through the bars.
Are your boys chasing and mounting (dominance) or are they running around like mad and playing dodgems (play)?
'Popcorning' and 'zooming' - joy and exuberance (videos)

Yeah she that's what I'm thinking. They seem to have there little bit and then move on and eat from same bowl (they do have two), they hang out together so I'm guessing they moved on. I hope they do, as I am only oneNo, you aren't stupid at all! Guinea pig social behaviour is just a lot more complex than most people expect, and it takes experience to understand the small nuances in body language/intensity etc. That is also the reason why some behaviours are so wildly differently interpreted, which is making it even more confusing for the beginner. Different people pick out different behaviours. In my guide I am concentrating on the more easily to spot key behaviours to help new owners to get a handle.
You will notice when it gets really serious in a completely different level of tension and intensity - and the way your boys are rather shocked when they actually had a real fight. It is generally very upsetting for them, too.
In many cases a two day separation to allow tempers and hormones to die down and the stink to be washed out of their coats by the piggies themselves will do the trick when things get really heated (see our teenage guide). More pairs than not actually make it through to together. Unfortunately, like with so many piggy related things on social media, they are not considered worth posting about... And there is A LOT of bad or long debunked advice still making the rounds. We have tried it all over the years; what really works has made it into our recommendations!
I took a video but don't know how to upload itJust familiarise yourself with the levels of bonding behaviour. The important thing is character compatibility and one of them agreeing to be submissive, however subtle that may appear. You'll be fine. Try not to stress and enjoy their antics. Most boar pairs do make it through, although it can look fraught at times![]()
