help needed :(

well ash and shadow are now teens lol they are about 6 mnths. However i may need to separate them as ash seems to prevent shadow from eating and she is quite small , i suspect it due to her hearign issue. However i cant afford a new cage right now and i really have no where to put a new cage unless it stacks... i am wondering if any 1 can offer advice or perhaps help me?
 
Separation should really only be the last resort. Try re arranging your cage, so one guinea pig cannot physically block in the food to stop the other getting at it. Spread veggies around, and have different little dishes of dry food, scatter the hay. Shadow should hopefully be able to eat from one little pile whilst Ash the other. Also you could have separate lap time where you can handfeed little veggie treat to Shadow to make sure she is having some. Hope it works out for them. xx
 
my boys are 6 months and 14months, and the younger one, Roy, appears to be becoming the dominant pig and has been bossing Fitz out out the veggies etc at feeding , so I'm now putting two bowls at opposite ends of the cage so they can both eat at the same time
 
i have 3 bowls and 2 bottels a hay rack and a manger, its not a problem of places, ash follows shadow about and literaly steals the food from her mouth. if shes got lettus and munching ash takes it treats and hay the same :( and well food bowls are all ashes apparently she sits in them or if shadows caught at a bowl a rummbling chasing wheekign fight starts where shadow ends up in a corner
 
Naughty piggy! If food times are the real problem, and they are ok otherwise behaviourally, you could possible put up a temp divider during veggie times. Easy to make either out of a couple of c & c panels, or wire baking trays. x
 
hmm that might work , I'm watching behaviour, I'm out at uni quite a bit in the day so recently iv not ben able to see if ash still nipps shadow, but wheil I'm about it seems to jsut be rummbling and chattering noses in the air lol. ill see if i can find some separaters in town, they have one of the big ferplast cages wioth 2 openign upwards front bits so it should be big nuf to seperate evenly lol.
 
oh dear well as rtoday has goen on iv witnessed 7 fights so far whil iv been here i was out for 3 hrs erleir, and they r stigg going, swaying hips growlign squeeking nipplin chattering etc :(. any ideas?
 
Are they definitely both girls?
Sounds like one of them is very dominant :( Do you have somewhere that they can get out to exercise? Perhaps if they could run around a bit they may be a bit more calm?
 
they get 2 hr2 run time easch day in my hall whic is liek 6ft sq , but not alot elses i can do I'm in a flat and it way to cold to put them out up here atm.shadow has hearign problems i think its why ash is so dominant, but i cant evn separate them atm iv no monie to get another cage for lieka week, I'm about demented frettin ash will do shadow a mischief
 
Oh dear. Where are you located? If you were near a rescue perhaps they could help somehow? xx
 
Tam and Gaga have a bowl of veggies each. I put one in first so greedy guts Tam get to hers first and then gagas goes in. This way they are eating seperate, and both have exactly the same amount in each bowl.

iv tryed allsorts , but well everythign seems to belong to ash and atm this includes poor shadow whom ill have to now bathe... ash sprayed all over the a few times :(
 
Perhaps open a thread to ask if anyone is in the area that could help? have a look on freecycle there may be a cage on there?x
 
where do i put the post for help in fourm and the freecycle and gumtree seem to all have wanted adds:( the offers are form befoer xmass and not cages ;(
 
Put it in guinea pig welfare and make sure you put Dundee in the title to attract people's attention x
 
posted, now all i can do is wait and hope ther is some1 nearby that can miby help my piggies. i have put a rack from my cooker in the cage just now, but ash will demolish it its coem undone twice so far. also lol i need it for amkin dinner so its not apermenent option if it evn wrks at all.
