Hello

I have two guinea pigs called Oopsy and Daisy, and lately one of them have been acting really strange. Last Friday I was laying in my bed with them wrapped up in a towel next to me, and the youngest one, Oopsy, starting jumping and twitching and panicking. She would be fine one second, then she would run all the way down the bed to my leg really quickly and back up again. Everytime I tried to touch her, whether it was her head, body, anything, she would seriously panic and run anywhere she can. I've had them for a year and usually they let me pick them up and pet them so it's not because they're nervous. If I help my hand on her back for a couple of seconds, she would look as if she was having a spasm. I did some research and found out that she could be having seizures caused by mites, so I bought some Ivermectin, treated both of them and cleaned out their cage. She calmed down a bit and I thought everything was fine, but on Sunday morning she would shake her head and twitch and run again, just not as frantically. I checked her fur and she has small black dots behind her ear on the bald patch guinea pig's have, and everytime I touch her there she panics.

Should I go to a vet or just apply the Ivermectin again this Saturday (it says on the package that you're meant to leave one week apart before applying again if needed) ?

Really worried

Hi! Please see a vet and do not home treat on spec. You can easily make this worse than better.

I also advice a vet visit. In the mean time you could upload a video of what you describe if possible by uploading it to youtube, copying the link and pasting the link onto this thread. Hopefully it's nothing sinister and can be easily treated.
