My adorable little Zippy (male, nearly 4) has had a uti since November (no squeaking just drinking lots) Had baytril first but stopped eating, got diarrhoea and lost weight so stopped it. Syringe fed him back to normal. Had lab tests of urine and put on septrin for 4 wks, no change. Another lab test showed it was then resistant to that so now on marbocyl, nearly 3 wks, no change :( he's fine in himself, eating and roaming around but still drinking lots...has been on fibreplex throughout. What else can I do? Was tested early on for stones, none and his kidneys were fine. Any advice?

I'm sorry you are having problems with your boy. When you say he had lab tests of his urine do you know what it showed?
I would wonder whether it is definitely still an infection or whether there is something else going on as well such as : interstitial cystitis, bladder sludge.
It may be worth checking again for stones that may have formed in the meantime.
I'm sorry I can't say a great deal more to help

Just reread your post, can I clarify are his only symptoms: drinking more than usual and bacteria showing up in the urine? He doesn't have any squeaking or blood in his urine?

Yes, he's just drinking loads, no squeaking or visible blood in urine. Initial urine test had blood so they put him on baytril...that was a defo no go...so after lab tests he was on septrin for 4 wks which gave no change to fluid consumption but next lab test showed no blood in urine just an increased bacteria ( real long medical jargon name) resistant to all but marbocyl and baytril.. hence marbocyl mess :( thanksgiving much for your reply... Any advice much appreciated. X

You may consider looking into chronic/interstitial cystitis. http://www.guinealynx.info/uti.html
This is more a condition that you have to manage rather than being able to heal. It can eventually disappear all by itself, but usually only after driving you round the bend for a very long while!
