I'm in a panic, my 5 month old very healthy pug was cuddling with my boyfriend, and he had just had a chocolate muffin (not rich) beforehand, I noticed the tiniest crumb on his shirt and before I could pick it off my pig had eaten it! I am very concerned, please any advice would help! She seems absolutey fine. But need to be sure it won't affect her! I have given her mushed up pellets, apparently that helps to move things through their digestive system.

If it was just a crumb I wouldn't worry about it, I don't think it would have any effect. Obviously it's not a good thing for them to eat but I'd be more concerned if she had eaten a large quantity. Keep an eye on her for signs of illness and speak to a vet if you are worried.

Please do not worry! I am sure she will be just fine, i have been known to share the odd digestive biscuit with my piggies and its never done them any harm

Thank you so much:)! Was having a silent panic attack, it was miniscule in size, and its never happened before. I really appreciate you both responding so quickly!:) ill give the vet a call tomorrow just to be sure, and my biyfriend is home all day tomorrow, so keeping an eye on our girl will be his job. Thank you again:)!

What would the signs of illness be, just so I know what to look out for?sorry:(!

Aww I'm sure a tiny crumb won't hurt your pig. Bear in mind most of the crumb will be flour etc. not actual chocolate. Be more careful next time but I'm sure it'll be fine! You shouldn't need to do anything other than keep a close eye on her. Make sure her poos look normal and that she is doing her business normally, and that she's eating hay happily, and it'll be ok.

Try not to worry too much. Mine are always troughing with no side effects, they chase the wild birds and eat the bread that I throw out, they won't let the cat near the bowl of dried cat food, they chased the cat that much, I now have to feed him out of their reach!
