Hi all I'm a bit worried about my piggy Dave I was giving him a cuddle in my arms and as I was leaning down to put him back in his pen he jumped out of my arms and landed awkwardly on his side for about 1 minute he was holding his head to the side but he seems OK now he's eating and drinking and walking fine on all 4 legs this happened half an hour ago he's grooming himself OK I'm just worried leaving him downstairs all night in case something happens shall I take him to the vet or not? Sorry for the long post x

If he is not limping and is walking straight and acting normally I think he will be ok - just keep an eye on him - am sure others will be on here to give their opinion - I have suffered from "flying piggy syndrome" too .

Oh dear - what a shock for you. These things do happen so please don't blame yourself. I would watch and see how he is over the next day or so. Many of us have had piggies who've jumped from the wrong height. If he's eating, grooming, walking ok then I'm sure he will be fine. It's a watching brief at the moment.

Keep an eye on him and see a vet tomorrow if necessary. If you are really worried, put him in the carrier with some water and hay, and have him next to your bed overnight.

Jumps can happen; if you have piggies for any length of time, you end up with a freak jump or a bad landing sooner or later.

Thank you he's jumped up and off his grass house in his pen with no problem he hasn't squeaked or squealed at all just frightened the life out of me he's never done that before he's snuggled up next to Derek at the moment as soon as he hurt himself Derek went straight to him I'll see how he is over the next few hours I might sleep downstairs tonight with him if I'm still worried x

Please to report that Dave is OK I slept downstairs with him last night and he was fine he's been up and about this morning jumping around with excitement when his veggies was coming and he's given me lovely cuddles this morning as well thank you for all your advice x
