Corny is fine, but his poop is soft and smaller than usual (but good shape), with a little bit of bad smell. And he’s not eating his hays enough. Also on Thursday I noticed that his jaw was not looking normally and his upper teeth were broken a bit.He can bring his chin to the midline, but he constantly moves it to the right. Do you think jaw seems normal? As for her poop, he had a gas problem 2 months ago and had healed. I am feeding by hand now, I stopped giving fresh vegetables. I give probiotics. What do you think I should do about her chin and soft poop?

I see you said you stopped giving veg - do you mean now or when there was a bloat problem two months ago?
With soft poop now, you need to stop giving veg so the gut can rebalance. Feed only hay and pellets. This can take a few days for things to settle. If things don’t normalise after a few days off veg, then you need to see a vet.

Are you weighing him regularly? Please switch to weighing him daily so that you can ensure he is getting enough hay. If there are any weight drops, then you need to syringe feed a recovery feed or mushed pellets to stop further weight loss and see a vet.

Any issues with teeth needs a hands on check by a vet.

I measure his weight regularly, it was 950 grams, now 900 grams. Currently, I feed him by hand and give probiotics because he has no appetite and he does not eat himself. I also stopped giving vegetables. He looks very energetic, but it worried me that he did not eat. His poop has been like this for 3 days. What do you mean when you say a few days recovery takes a few days? Is it normal his jaw by the look?

As he has lost 50g in weight then you need to start to look to take more action to prevent further weight loss - he is losing weight because he isn’t getting enough hay. You need to syringe feed a fibre rich recovery feed or mush his normal pellets with water and syringe that to him, as well as offering hay constantly.

If he has been off veg for three days and his poop hasn’t got back to normal, then he needs to see a vet.

Any jaw or teeth issues need a hands on vet check - we can’t say whether it is normal from a photo given none of us can see inside his mouth and we aren’t vets

How much probiotic are you feeding him? And how many days between the two weights you’ve given above? You will have to increase his syringe intake if he’s not eating hay. I would get him an appointment early next week for the vet to check both teeth and everything else.

I give him 1/4 reflor twice a day. I guess 3-4 days ago he was 950 gr, and now 900gr. I live in Turkey so finding a vet who really gets Guinea pigs is too hard. I give him pellets with water as syringe feed. His appetite is OK but he’s not eat hays enough. His poops are good shape but soft. But i will go to the vet tomorrow anyway.

I’m sorry your vets aren’t as experienced. I think given he’s losing weight you’ll have to increase the amount of pellets you syringe feed him. So maybe give him every two hours until you go to bed. I hope you can find out what’s going on.

Weigh him every day so you know how much food he is taking - if his weight continues to drop you need to syringe feed more often. It’s hay which is the important bit, and the food you syringe feed is directly replacing the hay/fibre he is not eating for himself
I hope the vets can help

I went to the vet today, so Corny has a gas problem again like 2 months ago. the vet prescribed 0.3ml of simethicone 4 times a day and told me to continue the probiotic. In addition, the jaw problem was also because the upper teeth were broken, and the lower teeth were sinking into the palate. So today she trimmed her lower teeth. She told me to give her some carrots. Do you think I should give him a carrot? As I said before, the vets here are not very experienced with guinea pigs and I am not comfortable with carrots.

Simethicone isn't recommended as it can gather gas into one big bubble which makes it more painful for piggies to pass. She really needs a proper vet prescribed medication for gas - emeprid or Cisapride, as well as a painkiller.
I know it is going to be very difficult for you given you dont have access to an experienced vet though.
Are there any rescue centres near you who have guinea pigs who may be able to point you in the direction of a good knowledgeable vet?

Carrot is too high in sugar to be anything more than a treat. So no, I wouldn't recommend it.
As your piggy has gas, she should not be given any veg at present anyway. She should just be fed hay and the syringe feeds.

The guide below explains further information

For now, weigh her daily, continue to syringe feed and massage her belly to help the gas to pass.

cisapride has been taken off the markets in Turkey because of the side effects. Should i give him simethicone?

Right ok.
Youll need to make the decision on whether to use the simethicone. As I say, we don’t recommended it on here due to the gathering of the gas into a large bubble but if you don’t have access to anything else then you may have to use it. I can’t tell you whether to use it or not though - you need vet guidance really

Have you been given any painkillers?

i dont give him anypainkiller because he was energetic and no signs of pain to me

Gas can be painful for them. A painkiller is normally prescribed alongside other medications for gas.

Ok, so which painkiller is ok for guinea pigs and how much should be given. I’ll do it my best

You need a vet prescription for it - all medications and dosages are based on medical need and calculated on the animals weight
i know it’s hard to find a vet where you are, but is there an animal shelter who may be able to guide you to find a suitable vet?

Unfortunately not, but I am a dentist so I can adjust the doses myself if there is theoretical information.
