Anna had surgery to remove an abscess yesterday, she is now 19 hours post op and she is not doing well. I am taking her back to the vet in two hours when my vet gets there, but I wanted to see if anyone has seen this before. Is it still from the anesthesia or is it something else? I have been trying to syringe feed her but she has only taken a little bit. She hasn’t eaten on her own at all and hasn’t pooped since before surgery.

Poor Anna, I'm not qualified to answer your question just wanted to send you my best wishes. You are doing the right thing taking her back to the vet. What a worry these little fur balls are. X

Poor thing! Sounds wheezy to me. Is her nose maybe a bit dry it stuffed up? That appointment can't come soon enough! Hope you get some answers and Anna feels better! 😥

The vet said Anna’s lungs sound clear and her heart sounds good. He said she may have a little upper respiratory infection but the antibiotics she is already on should take care of that. He thinks she is just dealing with the pain in a bad way. He had to cut into her jaw muscle a little so it is probably really sore. He said to give her a few hours to try to eat on her own, then try syringe feeding again if she is not eating.

I hope she's okay 😞 They're such a worry sometimes! Fingers crossed for her and you! 🤞 Good news that the vet found nothing wrong, hopefully she starts to pick up soon ❣️❣️

I woke up this morning and went in the piggy room and only one piggy was wheeking at me, it was Anna! That’s the first noise she has made since surgery, it was the most beautiful wheek I’ve ever heard! Then I went to give her her meds and she darted up the ramp (she hasn’t really moved since surgery either) I looked in her pigloo and she finally pooped! She still isn’t interested in eating so I will keep syringe feeding but she is definitely going in the right direction!

That's good news!:yahoo: Have you got any gut motility drugs?:hmm: Those worked wonders for Christian. :nod:I was so pleased when he started eating for himself again 4-5 days after his op.:)

Does the vet prescribe those or can I get them at the pet store?
