Hi all

One of my boars (still a baby) has a patch of fur missing and it looks a bit dry and scabby. I think it may be fungal I have bought some Kwench cream and have been applying it a few times a day and it looks a bit better compared to the photo attached.

Just wondering is there anything else I should buy? The other piggies seem fine I just hope it stays that way!

Would really appreciate advice and what you guys think it is.

Thanks

I would get it checked out by the vet.Could be fungal .The vet can do skin scrapes to pinpoint the exact treatment he needs. The rest of them may need treated too.

It seems quite circular... maybe ringworm? As @madguinealady says, you will probably need to check out your others too, in case it has come from bedding they may share, or just spread. You could always bath him in something like Nizoral and gently tug out any hair that comes away easily - you might be surprised at how much comes out :D Take him to the vet to be sure though :)

Looks like fungal to me (Ringworm is just one type of fungal infection).

I'd get him seen by the vet as not all treatments are ok for babies.... If it is fungal it can be passed on so keep an eye on the others, especially around the face and under the chin. Ringworm can also be passed to humans (I had a cracking mark on my arm for months after one of my boys gave me ringworm) so always wash your hands after handling him.

Good luck!

I would say fungal as well , best see your vet asap

Agree it looks fungal so needs the vet. Here is our guide in case it is Ringworm.

Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

As far as I am aware Imaverol can be given to young babies so hopefully that is what your vet will recommend. It is used as a dip to treat the whole pig and not just the affected area and is not rinsed off.
