You really need to separate them now, she will get pregnant if you leave them, its not fair you said she was getting annoyed it would be cruel to leave her. If you separate them now there is still a chance she's not pregnant she may not be in heat yet. Its mean to leave them together, if she is young there are so many risks involved in pregnancy and birth, you could lose her and the babies. You need to separate them now, give her a bowl with water in x

Thats good, it is for the best because you may be lucky with them, if she's getting annoyed at him (assuming she isnt a he lol) then she may not be in heat. I hope they do turn out to be boys for you :) How old are they? xx

Good luck. I've two girls and I know when they have been in season they get stroppy especially my bigger girl Fleur. You've done the right thing they need to be in season to take a pregnancy so if she hasn't been in season and she is a girl (thats the most important thing) then she should be ok.

I hope she isn't pregnant as 9 weeks is so so young. :(

Keep us posted!

ok i have been to the vets and they have confirmed thas she is a she but they wont be able to give him the snip until he is at least 6 months old?

so the only way is to take her back to the pet shop but i really dont want to as i have fell in love with them both.

I personaly wouldnt take her back to the petshop,if they cant sex piggies they will probably just sell her on to the first person even if she is preggy

Could you not keep them in a split cage so they can see eachother.then if she is preggy bond a mini boar with dad and a mini sow stay with mum :-\

I wouldn't take her back either, it could really upset her. As Graham said can you split them up so they can see one another? If getting a cage is a problem ask on here I'm sure someone will be able to provide one. :)

Totally agree with Graham's comments above. Good luck, I do hope that you managed to separate them quickly enough, poor piggy she's only a baby herself. Petshop staff want shooting >:(

I wouldnt take her back. The petshop would just sell her on to anyone and god knows what would happen to her x

If you feel that you really cant keep her please do not take her back to the pet shop. Let us know on here I'm sure someone would be able to take her.

Petshop staff need training asap. Not like it would take five minutes to learn the basics is it >:(

hi thank you to every1 for there help i took both of them to the pet shop as they told me i had to take themin to prove that one was a girl and one was a boy so i did that.

and now they have refused to give me my little girl back so i am quite upset and now only left with one piggy.

can they actually take her off me and not give her back?

they told me that by law i wasnt aloud to buy one male and one female together?

OMG what? I don't know, I hope someone can tell you. This doesn't sound right to me, I would contact your local Trading Standards they should know these things.

Hugs,

x

yeah i know it didnt seem or feel right to me either they just tried to thob me off with another piggy.
i demanded that they checked the rest of the sexes in that pen to make sure they were all boys.

but all they did was take her off me and said we will take care of it
and i havnt seen her again now.
so I'm very upset with myself for taking them back but i was just doing what i was told to do?

I know this is an awful way to talk about living creaturs but I'm sure legally if you bought her she becomes your "property". People and shops cannot sell things and then demand them back because they made a mistake. It may be against store policy to sell male and females but after the sale went through she became legally yours and i would go back to the store and threaten them with trading standers and just make a really big fuss. Please try and get her back because it would be awful if she was sold preggy or the store maybe want to keep her so they can sell the babies. If the shop has given you your money back then she is now the stores property to do what they want with.

This happened to me i noticed that they wern`t the same, the female one was also very aggressive towards the male (little piggy) attacking him it was ashame as he`s such a luvvie, i took them back to the pet shop and she confirmed it they were brother and sister, so we gave the female back, it did get a good home as my son visited it in the pet shop everyday and a young girl and her mum bought it.

So we are just left with little piggy formally Ant as we had called them Ant and Dec, seemed silly calling him Ant without Dec so we changed it to little piggy

Did they give you a refund? if they did theres not much you can do, if you accepted a refund you've returned the "goods" but if they haven't given you a refund, then stand back take a deep breath and start shouting! :tickedoff:

no they not given me a refund just gave me another piggy and took my little girl from me and said we will take care of it?

but surely as its there mistake i should be able to make the decision on whether i wanted to keep her or not?

Definately.

Looks like you gonna have to go back to the shop and kick up an almighty stink, threaten RSPCA reportings etc etc - I would ::)

If you accepted the replacement pig there is nothing you can do as they have replaced the damaged goods. If you didnt take the replacement she is still legally yours and they are guilty of theft. I really hate talking about pigs like this but this is how they are seen under the law.

:'( yeah i understand that but i only accepted the replacment piggy because they gave me no other option?

I'm really sorry but i dont think there is anything you can do now. She belongs to the shop. I would go down there though and make sure if they are selling her that they make people aware she has been housed with males.

ok i have just rang them and made sure they let people know and all they said was that i should concentrate on my piggies now and let them deal with the little girl?

Charming. They sound awful. As there is a chance shes pregnant do you not hav a friend who could go into the shop and buy her then rehome her on here with someone who could b prepared for the fact she might be preg? If they are keeping her theres nothing you can do now. I'm sorry the shop have treated you badly but i dont think its worth reporting it to the rspca bcause i dont think they will do anything. Maybe go to trading standerds and say you felt pressured into accepting a replacement but again i dont think theres anything they can do now you have a new pig from the shop. If its a chain write a letter to head office about the way you have been treated or complain to the manager.

your right i dont think its worth taking to the rspca after all they have food, water, and a cosy place to live so they wouldnt do anything anyway?

but i will never shop there again if idecide to get anymore piggies?
