Help please!

Hi all, looking for advice for my two boars that are 1 years old please. Bit of a lengthy post, so apologies! I have had my two pigs in the same cage since January, they are both brothers and have been fine up until a few days ago when they started tornado fighting. This happened when we brought them home from a boarding place, although they've been there before and were fine when we brought them home.

I've split their original cage up into separate cages, directly next to each other - I wasn't sure if this is suitable company for them both permanently? (See picture below) They both go up to the barrier to smell each other, sometimes they do rumble at one another. They have both been eating and popcorning so I do think they are happy. One of them sometimes bites the cage bars on the divider between them, is this normal? It's a tricky situation as they are now in a 3x3 and a 2x3, I don't have the space for bigger cages or two more pigs but I want to do the best I can for them!

I've also noticed what looks like a scab on one of them, I think from their fight. I've attached photos before but I'm not sure if it could be something else? He also had a lose piece of fur which left a red mark. P.s they both have double the amount of hay than in the photo

Any advice is greatly appreciated! :luv:

Sorry to hear about their fight. You have done right in separating as sadly now their bond is over. They will be absolutely fine living side by side. One of my pairs had a nasty fight and have lived side by side for almost three years now.

It could well be a bite mark.
It would be worth popping along to the vet for a check. Both of mine had bite marks after their fight and they both needed precautionary antibiotics.
 
Our boys have lived side by side in the past. We have a wibbly wibbly shaped divided piggie home, as that is what fits our space, but every pig did very well. You have given your boys a good space each. I hope they soon settle into their new way of living.

Wally is our werepig, and will bite the bars whatever, it seems some pigs can be persuaded to give it up,( Most of our past piggies) but not Wally . Fingers crossed the bar chewing settles down soon.

One of mine seems to love to bite the cage! However this evening, I saw them both lying next to each other on either side of the divide and yawning so they’re definitely more relaxed :)
 
Do be aware that yawning and laying against the divider with each other is actually a territorial move, a power lie in - they are marking their territory and making sure the other doesn’t try to cross
