A while ago I was cutting Murphy’s nails I noticed hair coming out of his anus. It literally were strands of his hair coming out so I had to pull them out completely. Is this normal? Do guinea pigs really poop hair?
No they don’t.
Boars scent mark and to do so they wipe their bottoms along the ground. In doing so often bits of hair, hay and bedding will get caught up in the anal sac so this is what you are seeing
You may want to clean up his anal sac and also check the penis shaft in case any hairs have been trapped in there that could wind around the penis. The scent gland (which is very tiny) is located just in front of the genitalia; piggies scent mark their territory by wiping it on the ground. Boars can unfortunately pick up quick a lot muck (including hairs) in the process. Please check their bits every 1-4 weeks, depending on whether they are yuck magnets or not.
