Some of you might know that Frodo's been on Baytril since Friday for a UTI. Well I've just been to give him his penultimate dose and found that it took the last of it. Will he be ok seeing as he has had everything the vet gave him or should he really be getting that last dose to make up the full week's worth. I don't know how we've run out, I maybe have just put a teeny bit extra everytime without realising. The only problem is if he should need one last dose it's due just after 7am and the vet's not open until at least half 8/9 :/

If it's the last dose & you've given him all that the vet gave you then it shouldn't really be a problem. Ring your vet in the morning to put your mind at rest.

Thank you. He's had all the vet gave him (apart from the odd drop he decided to wear instead!) I'm just a little concerned cos by my maths it should have lasted until the morning as he started it last Friday evening. It's impossible to know if it's worked as well as there was no behaviour change, no weight loss and only the tiniest bit of blood in urine initially but the majority of it was microscopic.

That has happened to me when syringe dosing antibiotics. Try not to worry. X

The same happened with one of our rabbits on Monday. He should have had 0.7ml twice a day for 7 days & was given 10ml in bottle which should have been 0.2ml over for the week. On Monday there was only 0.3ml left so I'd probabably been giving him just a little extra each time. He's no worse for wear though.

i always think its so gloopy that you waste loads on the outside of the syringe, i just put the tip of the syringe in now rather than just diving in

There is always a slight discrepancy in the volume of liquid in the bottle. Dont worry about not having enough for the last dose. If the antibiotics are going to work they will have done by now. And if more antibiotics are needed it would be more than just one dose.
