My guinea pig has a spur on both of her front to paws! They are on the side of the foot so she doesn't walk on them but they look like they need trimming!

I have never cut spurs before and am not sure what I need to use. Do I need to put anything on the paw to stop it getting infected etc...

I haven't had the spurs checked at the vets but I am positive that they are spurs from pictures I've seen. They are like yellow dry had bits of skin on her pink paws...
By the way the spurs are rounded not thin and flat...

I can try to get a photo if it would help, just ask :-)

Ha Ha, its an awkward place to try and get a photo of. Its nothing urgent if its just a spur, its not painful for them or going to cause any harm.

I've been using GGs Kwench lotion on Yoshi's calluses - seems to be doing the trick.

I have managed to get a photo of my guinea pigs foot spur but i don't know how to upload the picture. I can't find an attatchment icon and the only icon I can see is one where you write the image URL but the image hasn't got a URL
Please can someone tell me how to upload a pic thanks!

Do you have a photobucket (or similar site) account? Upload it to there and simply copy the IMG code and paste it in the reply box on here. Let me know if you cant do it and i'll try and sort something out for you.

My piggie Pumpkin used to get spurs on her back feet. I just trimmed them down with no problems. I guess front feet might be a bit trickier. Best of luck with it.
