Hey everyone

I reported earlier this week saying that my new piggie Dillon seemed to be getting on great with my other piggie Sam and they were settled living together although they are never shut in a cage together as they have a room to themselves!

There is the occasional rumble from Sam but nothing more. However last night I noticed Dillon had a patch of fur missing and his skin is a wee bit pink...I thought he had cut it on a ragged edge of one of the igloos which I immediately binned.

However I have just noticed that sam has a wee scratch under his nose....so now I am a bit concerned.

They seem pretty settled whenever I am around and tend to follow each other about.

Should I seperate them now?

Ahhhh help don't know what to do!

Well thats what I'm hoping!

Just now it is not that clear who is boss they kind of take turns!

I would leave them together, but check regularly for signs of bites. They may just have had a little tiff, but it has obviously not resulted in a serious fall-out.

Thanks was starting to worry.

I didn't want to seperate because sometimes they get on so well.

Hi,

I know what you're going through. My piggies are in their terrible adolescence at the moment and we had to separate them for a day last wekk. Since they've been back they've still been edgy but they're ok.

As Wiebke says, it's best to leave them to it unless it's really serious. We separated our boys for a day after the each sratched the other on the nose a little. They're very moody at the moment and can go from rumble strutting to popcorning in seconds.

I've learned that it's all part of their hierarchical nature and one piggy has to end up as the dominant one. Once this is settled, you might get arguments as to how far the dominant one can push the other one but so far, what you've decsribed is very similar to our boys' relationship.

I sympathise - it's hard to think of them fighting and some piggies do have to be spearated permantently but here's hoping that won;'include yours :)
