I just realised i have been giving Rosie too much metacam. She had a UTI so i gave her baytril that I already had like I had done before but she was uncomfy so I started her on some metacam too that Lexi had just finished using. I forgot it was just once a day that she should have it so she got twice what she should have had for a few days. She won't be having any more and I am going to ring the vet now.

Have I caused any damage to her? I feel really bad 8... 8...

Don't panic. How much did you give her and have you seen any change in her? It depends on the dose whether it is too much. What did the vet say?

Rosie is herself but she is to keep off metacam and be kept an eye on too. The vet seemed less concerned as Rosie is eating, drinking, pooing and weeing which is a good sign of no lasting damage especially the weeing as it is the kidneys that could get damaged. I am filling her with watery and diuretic veg to help flush out her system.

The vet didn't seem to think it was too bad but I'm sure she thought I was a bit of a numpty but then again I thought that myself. She wouldn't say much but I guess that's cuz she doesn't want to say she will be fine and then for her to get sick but she said to bring her back in if anything changes so fingers crossed she keeps on as she is.

What was the dose given?

Twice daily is actually better for pain relief, BUT it does depend on the dose.

.25ml a bit less than what Lexi was told to take daily.

That is a bit high, but that dose twice daily short term (i.e. for two or three days) is ok.
