I have 2 newish piggies. They are 13 weeks and I've had then a month. They are outside as my OH is very anti pets.and extremely alergic. I want to create some sort of run I can have inside in a room my OH stays out of as the weather is always raining when I'm able to let them out. So when they can't go on the grass I can have them in something that prevents any mess, stray hay or sawdust etc that's easy to clean and stores away. Was thinking of clear plastic storage boxes linked together by cardboard tubes? Sort of a long L shape. ? Any ideas very welcome. Was going to slowly build on a c&c cage by maybe getting the sides first on a few blankets and then the base in a few months but thought be quite small? And expensive. I seem to b buying the wrong things at the moment and wasting money. Got a wired out/inside surround thinking could use inside and out but outside with no cover they can't be left and inside they try and lift edge with nose to get under as it's lightweight where the rods normally fix into the grass.

I have c&c grids for my indoor play pen but these are quite pricey and difficult to put up and down unless you use lose cable ties to put them together. Have you considered one of the octagon types of play pen which fold away? These are quite cheap and lots of people use them.

Hi coco&chanel yes I have the octagon play pen a little like the one you posted the flooring for. When I got it I didn't think re needing a protector so I will see if this one will fit as they do try and nudge their noses under it and I was scared they would hurt themselves. This would help that. Do you think the boxes will work? Just they will end up being even quicker when we want a quick play in the evening and I thought it could be a little like an activity course with the tunnels and maybe treats at the other end? Maybe I'm just being a little ott ? Mine look bored just sat there when they come out

Could you explain what you mean a little more by the boxes?

Do you mean cutting holes out the boxes and putting tubes in to connect them? If so then the tunnels may come out easily and this could result in escapees! It would also be harder to store and maybe more costly as boxes are 2.50 each at cheapest and Guinea pig tunnels are about £2 each at the least. What i do is make up my c&c grids into whatever shape will fit into the space i have then add all of their tunnels and hideys for them to explore. Sometimes i also connect up some tunnels to make a but if a maze inside the playpen. I hope this helps :)

Yes I have just bought 3 clear plastic storage boxes 62 l each... and like you say was going to put holes and tubes to connect them. I have the tubes already.. would only need 2. The boxes came to £25 but thought really easy to clean and de odour . It's very hard when your OH us so anti pets as one accident on the carpet and that will be it... no piggies allowed inside. I could tape the tubes quick to stop them moving. Wouldnt leave them. Do you think the grids a better option. Just my 8 sided pen thing they can lift up and try and get under and I wouldn't want them to get stuck or worse... just trying to get what will work best so not to buy again and again. Thx for your time

Would the boxes be the right way up or facing down? If they are facing down then this could cause ventilation problems.
What about getting some sort of waterproof sheet (pvc table cloth, shower curtain etc) and laying it on the bottom so the sides come up a little to stop them from getting underneath the pen whilst also keeping the floor clean. You can then put some liners or whatever on top.

Yes the boxes would be face up so no issues there. ... just measured and that cover that you sent for the hexagonal frame seems to be the same size as mine so could try that with fleece over the top. ...

Honestly do what suits your needs, if you want to try the box set up it first before you buy anything else then do!

Vonhaus interlocking systems on eBay.Plastic coated, dirt cheap.Shower curtain or ground sheet then towels then fleece.Put the grids together with cable ties and it all folds up
