If you struggle to get the syringe into the mouth, gently place your hand over the top of the pig’s face so that your fingers are either side of the mouth, this makes the pig open their mouth enough to get the syringe in. Insert the syringe into the mouth from the side so that the tip of the syringe goes behind the front teeth.

it does - thank you! Will hopefully be better next time I give them.... Need to get it right so i can advise my parents how to do it!
 
Aw, she looks so bright this morning. I have a couple of struggle merchants when giving meds. I place them across my tummy sideways, hold the head and body with my lower arm and put one finger gently against the lower jaw space and guide the syringe in the gap. It seems to work, I do this with syringe feeding too.
Hope she is on the mend now, don’t they scare us!

I know - it's like nothing had gone off last night! Certainly scare us don't they! 4 years of no issues (apart from Ringworm when i first had them) then this less than a week before we go on our holidays! Hoping to perfect the medicine giving later with the other half - better with 2 people!
 
@artcasper This happened to my Jon a few times. The good news is that he was totally fine the rest of the time, a completely happy normal boy.

My vet reckoned it's a neurological issue because of the eye twitching. It could be something like a blood clot or a bit of air in their veins somewhere. They are so small anything tiny would cause an issue.

It is scary to watch isn't it! When it happened to Jon I would hold him so he felt secure and then put him back in the cage afterwards.

He would be a bit off for the rest of the day but then be totally fine. The vet and I said it was probably very tiring for him, hence why he just wanted to chill out and relax afterwards.

Aw, these things always happen at the most inconvenient time. Hope she is on the mend now x

Thanks Jacey - that makes me feel a bit better... it was so scary as it happened so fast.. one minute she was fine the next she was almost leaning on one side and crawling ... tried to video it to put on here but i couldn't.. she did settle when we were at the vets in her blanket and i felt sorry for her cos the vet kept picking her up every time she had settled down.. when we got home ( it all happened within an hour ) she was calmer so put her back in with Pippin.. she was a little wobbly but the head tilt had gone then she basically went to sleep... then this morning bright as a button... eating ok...not seen her drink yet but veggies had water on them so thats my only concern.. x
 
I'm so glad Gladys is feeling better. I hope you have a more restful night tonight and she cooperates better with her meds.
