So worried about this cold weather.

I know it's going to get worse but I can't cope with thought of the guinea pigs getting cold - or worse!

I've left them in their house hutch today, where they were overnight.

The house isn't much warmer during the day as no one is in, but it's slightly better.

Advice would be appreciated :)

Hi Beautiful Boys,
It froze here (In cumbria) last night and my two piggies were fine. They both live outside (one is only 6 weeks old, the other 2yrs) They have a snuggie around their cage with an old duvet cover as well to keep it well insulated and protected from elements. I also have a Heat Pad that you put in the microwave that goes in their bedroom. As soon as I put it in the cage they were on it! This morning is still fairly cold but they seem fine. The heat pad stays warm for around 10 hours. I put it in around 10pm last night so obviously it doesnt stay wame all night but I think the coldest is in the middle of the night. I have their cage in a fairly sheltered place so it doesnt really get the wind that much. Hope this helps! :-)

^Thanks... is the heat pad a guinea pig product?

My pigs live in a cage in my sitting room, and my house is bloody freezing. We have a coal fire and the only way the house gets warm is if we have a roaring fire and we don't have hot water unless the fire is lit either (we do have an eletric shower tho :))) The other night I was wearing about four layers of clothing, I went to check on the pigs who were in their cage in cosies with a fleece blanket covering half of it...they were toasty as anything! I was tempted to join them!

I can see a lot more fleecing is called for!

Thanks everyone for the tips.

Slightly warmer today so they are outside :)
