Hi
I'm in a really difficult financial situation at the moment. It was either keep my guinea pigs or my house, and, since they are my world, I have curently moved back in with my mother. She has allowed the pigs in the garden, despite her hate of anything fluffy and her severe allegies. However, under no condition am I allowed to bring them into the house, except in an emergency. They have a shed (yes! I managed to find a shed that I can fit all 10 into!) but it is horribly drafty and dark at night in there. I have tried using both a light and a heater, but they don't really make a difference. Since the nights are terribly dark at the moment, I dread going out to play with them, feed them, or anything else. I work a job from 8AM to 5:30 PM, and so miss almost all of the daylight hours. Any ideas to make it more enjoyable? My pigs are almost my only source of joy at the moment; but now caring for them is a chore too.

I'm really sorry it's come to this for you but you have to do what's best for the pigs. Boxes and paper bags stuffed with lots of hay. Invest in snugglesafes and use them so they have a source of warmth. Plenty of fleece hideys and cosies too. My favourite is plenty of hay because it's the most insulating.

You could try lining the shed with insulation to keep some of the draughts out and the warmth in but you need to make sure that the piggies can't reach any of it to nibble on. Try decorating a little with some fairy lights high up and a stool for you so you can have somewhere cosy to sit with them and chat

I agree also.
My boys live in my shed and it takes a lot of work to keep them warm enough outside. Snugglesafes are a must. I have four between my two piggies.
