Hi all my little guy chino doesn't seem to drink alot at all. Now with this hot weather we are having does anyone have any ideas that can help me to make sure he's drinking enough. He's got a water bottle I've also put a small bowl of water in his pen I don't know what else I cam do to encourage him to drink. He seems fine in himself eating fine going to the toilet fine he's pop corning around and wheeking fine just worried that he doesn't seem to be drinking much at all x

Provide loads of cucumber for them. My piggies rarely drink from the bottle so I make sure they have loads of cucumber the whole day. Also, you can give watermelon and lettuce at times.

He has sliced greens some red pepper baby corn romaine lettuce and some coriander. I give him celery and cucumber 3 times a week as was told not to give it to them to much, but after your advice I'll give him cucumber everyday to up his water content.

My 5 have cucumber every day tonight in with their other veg they had around a third of a cucumber between them.

Hi! Drinking in piggies can vary enormously. Please do not overfeed on watery veg to the degree that your piggy gets gut problems! He will drink as much as he needs all on his own if he is healthy and well in himself.

Guinea pigs don't sweat like we humans do, so their water intake is not rising dramatically with higher temperatures, unlike us humans who need to drink more when we are sweating a lot! Piggies regulate their body temperature via increased blood flow through the ears if they feel hot. ;)

Make sure that fresh and cooler water is available at all times, but otherwise do not worry.

I have several piggies that hardly ever use the bottle and some that work their way through nearly a bottle in a day - and yet both sorts have a clean bill of health from my vet. Either variety can live to a high age. ;)
All About Drinking And Bottles

Mine don’t drink much water but I have watched them drinking from the bottles. They have romaine lettuce and cucumber most days.

In this hot weather I'm changing their water every few hours to keep it cool for them. Chino rarely drinks from his bottle that I have seen yet my other 3 piggies go through a bottle a day. Will the mini cucumbers be Ok for him like one a day for him x
