Hi all,

I have a pretty prominent pollen allergy. Every time I feed my hogs hay, I get hives, sneezing, coughing, etc. It's not enough to be super serious or anything, but it's certainly annoying. I've tried western timothy hay which apparently has more allergens, so I switched to orchard grass, which was fine for a while, but now it's still affecting me. Allergy medications help, but it would be nice if I did not have to buy them. Is there anything else I can do to mitigate allergy attacks without sacrificing quality of life for my pigs? Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I’m sorry you are allergic to the hay. Could you wear gloves and a mask when feeding them? Not ideal I know.

Air purifiers bring quite a lot of relief if you haven't already used them ❤️

I use an air purifier in their room (and frequently air the room), wear a mask and gloves for cleaning/hay top-up and take an antihistamine for their weekly clean!
