the vets checked her mouth out and said there is nothing wrong but if there is no improvement by monday and the vet still cant help i will bring her along.

I may be barking * the wrong tree here - but in all my years experience of gunea pigs, the only time I;ve had real incisor problems is when they have broken off. Last time I took my 6yr old Grommie piggie in for a dental (he has a problem with molars that needs attending to every 6 months) I took him to a new bunny vet who inapporpriatley trimmed his incisors . I spent a worrying three weeks syringe feeding every day because Grommie couldn;t pick up his food. Next dental (Last month) I took him to Vedra at CCT - two minutes, no anaesthetic, and he was right as rain.

I hope your piggie not eating solids is merely a sign of her incisors being trimmed too far - so keep syringe feeding the 70ml/day and she should be fine once her front teeth grow back.

However the other reason for not eating could be pain from the stones - in which case she needs metacam - give her half the daily dose twice a day (i.e. normally about 0.1ml twice daly for a 1kg piggie). This is anti-inflammatory so sould also hlep with any baldder inflammation.

Finally as well as cranberry - pearl barley gloop (water left over from boiling pearl barley for 45 minutes) - 1-2ml twice daily - should hlep alleviate her bladder symptoms.

Try cucumber or parsley as, with no grass available atm, that seems to be the two most favoured greens for sick piggies.

Hope she makes a full recovery

Tracey is still not eating any solids including hay.she tries to but somehow she just cant manage.i am still syringe feeding her but i am going back to vets tomorrow. I am also going to try and get an appointment at the CCT if the vets are still "baffled".

Good luck at the vets, and if necessary at the CCT - I am sure if the vets can't figure it out, Vedra can. Fingers crossed for Tracey. xx

Well the vet had another good look inside her mouth today and could not see anything wrong.
i got some more CC which she loves.so thats a relief.
tracey does want to eat and this evening she has eaten some celery and cucumber! but I'm not getting my hopes up yet.......watch this space.

"Well the vet had another good look inside her mouth today and could not see anything wrong. "
Does that mean very much at all?

It means that her teeth are fine and there is no obvious signs of infection.
But now she has started to eat some solid food it must be a good sign?!

thanks to lauras advice i made the two hour trip to see Vedra today, with Tracey of course and I'm soooo glad i did. After seeing Tracey for a couple fo minutes she said Tracey has oral thrush and thats why she is struggling to eat. it meant a dash to the drug store to stock up on supplies. fingers still crossed....

Thanks for the update, I am pleased the trip went well. I hope she starts to improve! :)

i really dont know what to do but tracey just will not eat 8...8...
she is laying with me now asleep.
I'm waiting for vets to open but i am preparing for the worst 8...8...

I do feel for you, it can be disheartening but sometimes these things do take a while; it can be the second week of treatment before you see improvement if the problem is quite stubborn. How long has she been on treatment, and which treatment did Vedra recommend (including doses)?

Are you still able to syringe-feed her, and how much?

i had been syringe feeding her but she was still loosing weight and this morning it was like she had given up.
the vet diagnosed kidney failure this morning so i had to say goodbye to her 8...8...8...

BIG HUG

I am so sorry - you are a good mummy and know when things just won't work anymore.

I lost my old lady to organ failure last summer and know how gutting it is when your piggy completely refuses to eat and drink, and you can just see the life draining away... In the end I had to pts my Dizzy as well after she started being in real discomfort and pain instead of simply drifting away.

Oh no ...8... I'm so sorry for your loss..

You did everything you could, big hugs...

She'll be up at the rainbow bridge with her friends xx

awww hun I'm so sorry i completely know how your feeling. She will be up on rainbow bridge now with all of our other piggies. Hope you feel a bit better soon xx

I'm so sorry Tracey didn't make it, you did all you could for her. Big hugs.

Rest well, dear Tracey. xx
