Is she still doing it? At times it didn't look as if you were touching her. What is she like now? She doesn't have any skin issues of which you know of does she?
As far as i know she doesnt have any skin complaints. shes been fine. this only startes late last night.
She doesnt do it all the time she was happily sittin letting us stroke with no concerns at all, BUT she is doing that on her own at times too and what looks like rubbing the left side of her head.
She does seem reactive, might be feeling stroppy but could also be something bothering her although i would expect some chewing or scratching if it was anything overly irritating. Might not hurt to bathe her, might be lice or something making her sensitive. Johnsons do a small animal shampoo that kills lice etc.... Won't harm her bathing her, see if it helps any
She's just relaxing it that photo. See the chicken leg! Nothing to worry about there, just a relaxed piggie.
So she will let you stroke her there other times? That doesn't sound like a skin issue if that's the case... She would be reactive all times if it were mites. Any sign of dandruff, scabs or balding?
Check her skin over. If you see anything, then a quick visit to the vets will diagnose it. As DeguRock has said sometimes they get stroppy especially over their sides been touched..
Love to Deliah x
We bathed her about 2 weeks ago with shampoo we had for her i cant remember what its called. we also put some treatment on her as she wad scratching more than unusual but shes been fine..until ydau with her unususal behaviour.
I wouldn't bathe her again. Plus piggies don't actually need it unless they get mucky. Was it johnsons small animal shampoo? I have heard of animals reacting to it that. Either way it could be the shampoo making her a iittle sensitive, the reaction to a shampoo can actually take 2-3 weeks to fully wear off, even if there is no scratching or scabs, they can feel a little irratated for some time after. The chemicals and parabens can take a while to leave the system.
Other than that, if she doesnt have anything visible to her skin such as redness, flakiness, scatches or scabs then i'd say she is a bit 'touchy' over being touched, I have a pig who does that if I touch his sides and he will kick too. For a long time I thought Tyler had a skin condition but he just doesn't like to be touched, he's the nosiest, chattiest cheekiest, friendliest pig but he would just rather you didnt touch him
If you're still a bit unsure then a quick check at the vets will rule it out.
Deffo give her a check up - but i thought i would just add i have my Winnie Willow who is incredibly playful, she does this a lot, she doesn't have any skin issues or anything she is literally just playing.
If you have already bathed her i would leave it, i think from what you have said in previous threads shes just a little madam and doesn't like being touched. Keep an eye on her is my advice, if shes acting normally and not scratching or chewing i would think shes just being stroppy
One of my piggies does this every once in a while. I think it's a "why you going for my tummy?" reaction. I stroke her head and she lyes low.. I go for the tummy and she rolls on her side and then 'spurts' about.. checking my hand very thoroughly. It's a bit weird but i think it's just a "I dont want my tummy touched thankyou" kind of thing. My guinea does sometimes get bloaty and farty aswell which might explain but your piggy doesnt look like that
oh my goodness, one of my piggies does this, hes nearly a year old and has done it the whole time i had him. its mainly near his back legs but mostly on the right hand side. he just sort of 'buckaroos' and rolls around or kicks out but then goes back to being totally relaxed .....hmmmm i dont know why but I'm pretty sure theres nothing wrong with him.
