Well just lost my male guinea pig on the 4th of march and I have one depressed female guinea pig that will just sit in the corner all day crying what should I do

Hello, I'd seriously consider getting another. When my fudge passed away, my frankie was pining so after starting a thread on here I decided the best thing to do was get him a friend. It changed him instantly.

Hi @kiera
Sorry to read that your sow isn't perking up, sometimes they really do grieve hard, and when this happens often the only thing you can do is get another companion. However it may be worth just getting her checked out at the vet first to rule out illness.

You may find this thread helpful Looking After A Bereaved Guinea Pig

Your nearest definite recommended rescue is NEGPR Home Page, which is 3 hours drive from Kilmarnock.
There is a boarding place on the recommended rescue list closer (2hrs drive away) but last time I looked at them I could only see boarding information and not rescue information. It may be worth phoning them though as perhaps they don't generally advertise their rescue pigs? Sorry do you mean you've already got more than 1 and it's just 1 that's taken it badly? X

Aww bless her, that's so sad. Could you take her to a rescue to see if there's another piggy she might like? She might choose a female or they might have a neutered male she will fall in love with. I know that they get really attached don't they so sad when this happens.x

Kiera, is she actually crying e.g. squeaking? or is she quiet?

Is she eating? pooing okay?

Jack wasn't neutered, and so I thought he wasn't housed with your other pigs?

If he was then you need to put them all on pregnancy watch.

If not, then I would probably take her to the vet for a checkup as it might be a sign of illness rather than depression as she wouldn't have known him very well.

I put a cage divider in the c&c so she and he can cuddle up near the divider
