I got 2 guniea pigs yesterday and I couldn't handle the cuteness! I picked them up and feel super bad. They are scared and run into their hideys whenever I walk near them. I really want them to let me bond with them but their too scared, what should I do?

Thank you guys I think I'm making progress they are eating and playing around me and I can hand feed grizzly but fish is still timid, their getting there!

I still can't pet them yet though but it's only been two days so that's normal right?

That is normal. Give them time and they will soon come out of their shell :) It took my boys a while, I now have them all taking food from my hand :luv:

Ooooh and welcome to the forum :wel::D

Hi and welcome

Please take the time to read our new owners's guide collection. A whole chapter is devoted to how to settle in guinea pigs, understand their instincts, how to avoid predatory behaviours and use guinea pig language to make friends with them and how to avoid injuries from freak jumps during pick up and taking back to the cage.
New Owners' Problem Solver And Information Collection

You will find out tips hopefully very helpful. Most new owners are not aware guinea pigs are prey animals and not animated cuddly toys. Shop and breeder piggies have had virtually now friendly human interaction before they are ripped from their groups and sold into a completely different environment where they are expected to function as pet. Winning their trust is not a matter of days, but if you are patient and follow our tips, you will get there more quickly in the end and reap the rewards for your extra work in the long term. ;)
