Hi there everyone,
I have a problem with my girls that i have never come across before. I would be grateful for any ideas or if i am not the only one this has happened too. Every time i put my girls outside in the run to have fresh grass ect. They are like statues ,even an hour later they haven't moved. They have plenty of hides and shade, i put things in there run they have in there cage but didn't make any difference.

They are getting spooked out and scared. That is the prey reflex you are seeing kicking in

I pack some herbs and baby carrot when I put them outside for better outside experience. They seem to enjoy being outside. I know my boy Finn likes outside. He enjoys eating his lunch first, then walks around in his cage. I do stay by their side and check up on them when they stay outside so they feel protected.

Thank you both of you. i do stay beside with them and talk to them .I keep trying but they are the same every time.

In this cooler weather, cover half the run with a blanket, it's just helps to make them feel safer. Slowly increase the amount of time you out them out for. Giving some herbs may help too.

My first boys were exactly the same.
In the outside run they stayed in the den and didn’t move.
As soon as they came back in they ran like crazy all over the place.
I think it was just too scary for them.
Now I just go out with a bowl and pair of scissors to cut grass for them.
Neighbours probably think I’m crazy 🤪

My first rex boys were the same too, they'd just stay in a hide all the time because they were scared of the space (they'd been indoor guineas in my old flat up until that point). It'll take time, but my boys got used to it eventually, got bolder and grew to love grass time :-)

try covering the top of the run with a light cotton sheet, they will feel more secure.

Hi,
Thank you everyone , i feel much better its not just me and i will keep trying and will try a cover over the run. :luv:
