Hi I’m really worried about something. One of my guinea pig’s whiskers fell off. And the guinea pig ate the thick whisker. Is this bad? Will she need to go to a vet now?

Nothing to worry about medically, piggies often nibble each other's fur and must swallow lots of their own grooming themselves!

Thanks for the reassurance. It was just that it was a really long whisker which thick and at the moment when she swallowed it whole without biting it to smaller pieces, I was panicking and thought what if chokes.

Both piggies are fine and there is nothing to worry about; the whisker will grow back!
Unlike with other pets, eating hair doesn't cause any problems with hair balls in guinea pigs.
