HELP !

Hello,

I've had my guinea pig Riley for 6ish years now and shes never had any problems health wise before.

Yesterday evening we noticed that she hadnt eaten her food, or drank. As her bottle was still filled with water. We thought that maybe she just wasnt hungry, so we left her be.

This morning i went to check on her, and she still hadnt eaten her food from yesterday afternoon or drank any water. She was lying in her cage, with labored breathing. At first we thought she couldn't move, but she got up, with sort of a wobbly walk.

We took her out and stroked her a bit, gave her some water, but she refuses to eat. We thought of taking her to the vet, but either none see guinea pigs or they arent see first timers at their place.

I dont know what else we can do to make her more comfortable. Please help.

Your guinea pig needs to be taken to a vet.

A piggy who isn’t eating is very poorly and needs treatment.

You must step in and syringe feed a piggy who isn’t eating to stop her from going into gut stasis. I will add links below but these are only bridging care and your piggy needs to see a vet urgently

Where are you located? I would call your current vet and see if they have details for an out of hours emergency vet.

Please have your piggy seen by an emergency vet ASAP. If you let us know your location we may be able to point you towards one. Your regular vet should have the number of an emergency service you can contact.

Hi!

Your piggy needs to see a vet as an emergency if she is to survive. It could be that she had a stroke or something else, but that is for a vet to decide.

Please step in with support feeding asap. Guinea pigs don't fast. if they have lost their appetite, they are seriously ill.
