my guinea pig Noah has some type of crust on his nose or a scab of some sort and I don’t don’t know what to do about it. I did some research but it really hasn’t helped. can someone tell me what to do to help my baby. I can see it getting worse he is kinda a jumper so I can barely check his teeth. I don’t know if it’s an infection or something. does anyone know how much it would be to take him to the vet.
 
Please have your piggy seen by a vet. We cannot diagnose anything and without a picture, we couldnt even hazard a guess as to what sort of issue you are dealing with

We cannot tell you how much it will be as all vets have different charging structures, plus different illnesses come with different treatment needs.

I have never been to the vet before. And they are closed until Monday. And I don’t know what to do.
 
I’m really sorry but we can’t tell you what is wrong with your piggy - we cannot see your piggy nor are we vets and are therefore not able to tell you what is wrong with him. All we can say is that you need to take your piggy to a vet for diagnosis and treatment.

In the meantime, please switch from the normal weekly weighing to weighing him daily (at the same time each day) so you can monitor hay intake. If your piggy is losing weight then you will need to step in with syringe feeding

you can’t treat because you have no idea what is wrong, you could so easily make things worse by using any home treatment And that is why we would never recommend any home treatments.
please follow the advice I gave you above and weigh your piggy daily so you can monitor hay intake.
 
I agree with piggies&buns, take him to the vet during normal opening hours, it is not an emergency at this stage. Continue to monitor and any sudden loss of weight or loss of appetite then step in with syringe feeding. The vet will be able to diagnose and prescribe the right treatment
 
Could you please take a clear, well lit picture to give us an idea what is wrong. 'Scabs on the nose' does unfortunately cover a fairly wide field of very different problems. BUT none of the potential issues is classed as an emergency so a Monday appointment will be perfectly OK.
Please do not DIY treat on spec and make a diagnosis much more difficult.

Unfortunately, we don't have crystal balls to see your piggy, snap our finger and tell you what your piggy has and how needs to be treated, as much as we often wish to. :(

Please note that we cannot replace a hands-on vet visit; none of is a qualified vet nor are we legally allowed to diagnose and dispense any treatment. We can only tell you when and how soon you should see a vet and we can support you during any prescribed medical treatment with practical tips. But without anything to go by, we cannot even start to guess what you are most likely up against.
 
Try not to stress. All 3 of my piggies have had scabby noses at different points. And only 1 of them needed meds.

Does he seem to be in any pain? And is there any blood?

And does Noah have a cage mate? One of my 3 went through a stage of licking another ones face, which caused some irritation and a crusty nose... Guinea pigs are strange and wonderful creatures
 
Please take a well lit photo and post it to this thread so we can have a look and give you an idea but he does need to see a vet for the correct diagnosis and treatment. This can wait until the vet opens tomorrow
