i have found someone with 2 baby boys 2 rehome, would freddy be ok with 2 baby boys or am i best sticking with 1?
 
two piggies

firstly if you take the two piggies they have to be quarentined for at least 4 weeks to protect freddy from illness.
if i remember correctly freddy is 4.6 years old so you would be better with 2 if they don't bond you can put their cages side by side so they can see and smell each other.
what i am trying to say as freddy is 4.6 and you only take one piggy when freddy leaves us (god forbid) then you will have a lonely boar again.
things could get tough for freddy when the boys reach 3-11 months old when hormones are running riot.
if you are going to take both boys, quarentine for at least 4 weeks and then put their cage beside freddy's and slowly give them floor time and cuddle time together.good luck and let us know what you decided:)p:)p:)p
 
the babies have already been taken, but i now have a baby for freddy, he is only 1 week old but when he is ready they will bring him 2 me as they have relatives down the road from me :)
do i still have 2 quarentine 1 piggy?
they are sending me some pics later and i am already counting down the weeks lol :)

sorry my mistake about freddy's age. i would still quarentine the new piggy to protect freddy from any illnesses, but it is up to you.
i know petshop piggies it takes at least 4 weeks for any illness to show up, do you know whether the piggies parents are related to eachother as this is called inbreeding and can cause a lot of health problems.
perhaps someone else can advice you on to whether to quarentine or not, i know i would but it may be different with pet piggies.

Really pleased for you that you have a baby boar on the way to pair with Freddy ... I always get really excited waiting, especially if you have already seen photos of him. x>>

I personally would quarantine the new baby from Freddy for a few weeks after he arrives. He might not have anything nasty wrong with him, but he may have mites or lice that he could pass on which could cause you problems to eliminate.

Pop his cage to the side of Freddy's, or if you have a two runs or could section one into two bits, side by side so that they can see and smell each other.

Usually adult boars are ok with baby boars .... but as usual it just comes down to piggy personalities Keep us posted.
 
Yes definately quarentine the baby, even if he looks healthy he could have issues which are not showing :)

assume you aren't getting him until he's older than 3 weeks? don't think he should be seperated from mum until 3 weeks.

i would possibly do what goldie said and have them in seperate cages alongside so they can see each other. you could introduce them on neutral territory together, and keep a close eye. Probably there will be a lot of rumbling from freddy, and attempted mounting, but it should eventually settle down. Once the baby pigs hormones kick in it could be a different story but you'll have to wait & see
